CUSTOM BIKE BUILDING SERVICE

Buy a framekit & most of the parts you need from us, and we will assemble the bike free of charge (Save £180+ in labour)

Hundreds of amazing people have had bikes built in our workshop over the years. Back in the early days we focused on affordable renovations of old steel bikes from the 80's & 90's. When we started selling Omnium then we shifted our focus to awesome lightweight cargo bikes. Recently more people have been interested in 90's resto-mod style commuter builds, and bikepacking ready gravel bikes.

Historic projects

Please review our instagram grid to see the kinds of bikes that we are used to building for people. It's important that before we start a new custom build project that you are happy we are the right business to take on the work.

You can also browse through the various write-ups in the "Journals & Stories" tab at the top of this page.

The custom building process

  1. Contact us and let us know what you have in mind. We will then seek to find out more about the project, and to decide if it is going to be something we think we can help you with.
  2. Schedule a custom build consultation, where we spend 30-60mins on the phone, or face-to-face. This is an opportunity for us to take notes, get a draft build sheet together, and ask the essential questions that will help us understand how to proceed to the next stage.
  3. The Paradise person who will be responsible for your bike build will set up a worksheet for us to review together, and make the first revisions where the shape of the project has largely been formed. Things like frame choice, size, colour etc. The bones of the build.
  4. Pay us a deposit so that we have some capital to start ordering parts. For most builds a £500 deposit is sufficient to get the ball rolling. Note that if you are using a cycle to work scheme voucher to pay for the bike, then we will refund your cash deposit once the voucher has been successfully redeemed.
  5. We will follow up with any revisions to the build that may be required, due to availability of items, budget affecting factors, compatibility issues, all that stuff which is never as straight forward as you think it will be.
  6. When we have both signed off on the final version of the worksheet then all the ordering will be done. Please bear in mind that at this stage, the deposit is no longer refundable, per our terms of service regarding special orders.
  7. We will then put a build box together for you, where all the bits for your project will be kept in one safe place while we wait for everything to arrive.
  8. Build day! We will assemble the bike and prep it so it's ready for you to come and either test ride or take home.
  9. Any final adjustments needed, such as cutting steerer tubes, adjusting the fit with a different stem or seatpost can be done, so that you are happy to take the bike away.
  10. After 100miles or so, we ask that you bring the bike back to have a check over and make sure everything is sweet so you can start really covering some miles and enjoy the new bike!
